Okay, so that's not my home. The Mr. and I are still shopping! It's such a long process. There are so many homes to look at, it's starting to drive me crazy. There are so many foreclosures, short sales, etc. It's like a needle in a haystack down here in Florida. I want a home with character. We're searching for that fixer upper that we can mold into the perfect house for us. It doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles and upgrades, because after all it might not fit our style. Ideally we would love a large kitchen and family room since both of us enjoy cooking and movies. A garage, even a double garage, would be nice since we both work out often. We could have a gym at home. The bedrooms don't have to be huge, but a master bathroom for sure, plus another one for guests or future little ones. I would really like a fireplace, I guess it's the Pacific Northwest/Southern girl in me. A fireplace just screams (well maybe not screams) coziness! And then of course a pool for those days when we are sweating buckets in the middle of blazing hot and humid July! Here's our lists of needs and wants...
Must-Have List
- nice location & neighborhood (very important)
- private backyard (for our future bull mastiff)
- at least three bedrooms (us, office, guestroom,
little ones) - at least two bathrooms (trust me NEED, Mr. spends more time in there than I!)
- garage (I have a very manly man)
- close to the beach (this should go on the other list...)
- open floor plan (I hate walls)
Would-Be-Nice List
- wood floors (dark. I hate carpet)
- a fireplace (so romantic)
- basement (man cave!)
- front porch (place to put my Cracker Barrel rocking chair)
- sun room (it's Florida!)
- french doors (my mother would agree, they're just amazing)
- built-ins (I have a lot of little stuff)
- pool (do I even need to explain!?)
I'll update as this process continues. There are a few that match our lists. Wish us luck!
